When choosing Central Administration >> Security >> Configure Service Accounts, I get the error “Some or all identity references could not be translated” and I’m not able to configure service accounts.

I found a managed account that had been disabled in AD, but had not been removed from SharePoint. There is a UI for removing managed accounts from SharePoint, but it gave me a different error. I ultimately removed the offending account using PowerShell. After I did this, I was able to use the “Configure Service Accounts” link in SharePoint. (and yes, we actually do have a domain named “DOMAIN”)
